The MD-ICCCR currently awards three scholarships to Teachers College Social-Organizational Psychology PhD students. We are proud to highlight our recipients for the 2020-2021 school year below:

Lida Orzeck Endowed Scholarship:

Lan Hoàng Phan is an incoming doctoral student of the Social-Organizational Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a B.A. in Human Development & Social Relations and Global Management from Earlham College. Having worked in six different countries, she focuses her research on the role of multiculturalism, solidarity, and informal power in conflict resolution.

 

Roy and Deborah Lewicki Scholarship

Asha Nicole Gipson (she/her/hers) is an artist, entrepreneur, and social-organizational scholar born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and raised in San Diego, California. Her current research interests include understanding the contextual and situational factors that influence negotiation, leadership development, and entrepreneurial behavior. Asha is the co-founder of Blaxtar Essentials, an international consumer goods company specializing in the creation and production of handmade products. In addition to running a multi-national business in Ghana and the United States, Asha is an avid writer, editor, and executive coach, specializing in the unique experiences and challenges of traditionally marginalized women and men of color.  

 

 

Morton Deutsch Endowed Fellowship

Allegra Chen-Carrel is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Organizational Psychology at Columbia University Teachers College where her research focuses on the intersection of social justice and conflict resolution. Her research currently centers around how people respond to tension and advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within their workplaces. She also works as a Program Manager for the Sustaining Peace Project at the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict, and Complexity. She holds a M.A. in Global Thought From Columbia University, and a M.A. in Immigration Management from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Spain. Previously, she worked for community organizations in New York City and in the Dominican Republic.
