The most recent volume of the leading scientific journal, Nature, features an article on intractable conflict, and highlights Peter Coleman's use of Dynamical Systems Theory to track it. The article, "Conflict resolution: Wars without end" written by Dan Jones, was published in the most recent volume (519), and is available to read here.
In the article, Jones introduces the concept of mathematical modeling for mapping conflict. In 2004, Peter Coleman, Director of MD-ICCCR, formed a Dynamics of Conflict working group with Andrzej Nowak and Robin Vallacher that utilizes this model in their theories. Jones goes on to track the evolution of theories around conflict resolution and the formation of AC4 in 2009, noting the integration of theory, modeling and practice, pervasive throughout both Centers.
