Morton Deutsch develops his theory of cooperation and competition

1963

Social Psychology Program established at Teachers College

1985

Peace Education Center established at Teachers College

1986

The International Center for Cooperation & Conflict Resolution is established by Morton Deutsch

1988

Ellen Raider becomes Training Director at the ICCCR, In 1988, Ellen Raider, M.Ed., a renowned and innovative teacher, practitioner, and social activist, joined the Center and together with Dr. Deutsch forged an approach to work in conflict resolution that integrated theory and practice. Ms. Raider developed the initial instruction and training activities of the ICCCR: designing and conducting workshops and creating training materials for teachers, administrators, school boards, parents, and students.

1990

Morton Deutsch retires from Teachers College; remains Director of ICCCR

1991

ICCCR receives NYC Department of Education Grant to create mediation centers in high school

1996

ICCCR establishes its Certificate Program in Conflict Resolution & Mediation

1997

Columbia University Conflict Resolution Network is founded

1998

Peter Coleman becomes Director of ICCCR

2000

First edition of "The Handbook of Conflict Resolution" is published by Peter Coleman, Morton Deutsch

2004

First annual Morton Deutsch Awards for Social Justice are held

2007

The Masters Program in Negotiation & Conflict Resolution is established at Columbia University

2010

The Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict & Complexity is launched

2018

Establishment of the Peace and Conflict Collaborative @ Columbia University
